A known lower west side drug house went up in flames late Thursday night.

Flames broke out around 11:50 p.m. in a vacant house along the 400 block of 7th Street.  Firefighters encountered heavy fire conditions throughout the structure.

Firefighters fought the fire from the outside because of the amount of fire and the known history of the property.

A fire official told 7 Eyewitness News that the structure, the scene of a previous fire, is known to be drug house. Officials recently found hypodermic needles throughout the structure during a recent inspection.

The Division Chief estimated damages to be $20,000 and ordered the house to be demolished. Three other homes exposed to flames sustained $12,000 in damages.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
