Lockport apartment fire, witnesses report seeing person jump from window to escape

LOCKPORT, N.Y. (WKBW) — According to witnesses, a person was seen jumping from a third story window to escape the flames. Two people were rushed to the Erie County Medical Center (ECMC).

The Rapids Fire Company Deputy Chief says two people were trapped inside the 8-unit apartment building on Robinson Road. One person jumped from a three story window. They were taken to the hospital for ankle injuries. The other person who was trapped needed to be rescued by firefighters. That person was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

Damage to the building at 6298 Robinson Road is estimated at $1-million.

All eight units were damaged by fire, smoke or water. The Red Cross of Western New York is assisting.
