It's an Independence Eve tradition in Downtown Buffalo, and nothing feels more American than enjoying the Great American Pastime alongside great American Patriots.

The game was extra special for one of the team's own. Monday night's starting pitcher, Chris Rowley is a West Point Graduate who served two years in the United States Army.

"That's the biggest crowd I've ever pitched in front of," he said.

Crowley didn't play baseball while on active duty. It was a feat to make up the time lost.

"I didn't really throw much when I was gone," he said. "

Thousands of people came down to enjoy the 23rd annual Independence Eve Celebration after the game, including a performance by the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, followed by the largest Bisons' fireworks display this season.
