The Hamburg School Board voted Tuesday night to will fill the empty seat left vacant after Catherine Forcucci's removal this past summer.
Robbin List, a former teacher, principal and superintendent, as well as a West Seneca school board member, was unanimously approved to take over Forcucci's seat.
A judge gave the board permission to start vetting potential candidates after Forcucci tried to force the board to keep her seat open while she appealed her controversial removal.
The board narrowed down the pool of candidates from 18 to eight.
List will serve on the board until next May.
A special election to fill the remainder of Focucci's three year term will be held in June.
