Governor Andrew Cuomo, County Executive Mark Poloncarz and the National Guard were in Lackawanna Saturday night, delivering food to residents who remain snowbound.

The Food Bank of WNY provided over 7,000 pounds of milk, juice, soup and beef stew after receiving a call from the NYS office of Homeland Security asking for food for families still trapped in Lackawanna. Volunteers helped pack and deliver bags to the families who have been identified as being out of food.

The Food Bank says staff will continue to distribute food to member agencies to help in the hardest hit areas. Member agencies will also deliver turkeys and food through Wednesday so their clients will have them in time for Thanksgiving.

If you’d like to help, DJ Jickster began his Rock Out Hunger food drive Saturday in the parking lot of Eastern Hills mall at 4545 Transit Road in Williamsville. He will live in the Food Bank trailer until 10 a.m. Wednesday.

DJ Jickster has already helped collect nearly 300 turkeys. Stop by with your donations anytime – 24/7.
