The current president of the Buffalo School Board can't run for re-election.

That's because according to the Erie County Board of Elections, he didn't collect enough signatures. In order to be eligible, you need at least 500 signatures.

James Sampson currently represents the West District. He is one of the founding members of the West Buffalo Charter School, and is a adjunct professor at the University at Buffalo.

Sampson has been part of the school board majority focused on reform in the school district. If he is not able to run in the next election, that may upset that majority and place the reform efforts into question.
