Rep. Tom Reed, R-Corning, has been selected to serve as one of the vice chairs on President-elect Donald Trump's transition team.

Trump made the announcement on Tuesday.

Rep. Reed released this statement about the selection on Wednesday:

“We are both honored and humbled to be selected as a Vice-Chair for President-Elect Trump’s transition team. We care about the future of our country and recognize that this is a massive undertaking at a pivotal moment in our history. It’s only right that we remain committed to bringing our best efforts to the table to make our country strong and prosperous. We are glad to serve alongside those on the team and look forward to getting to work.”

Rep. Reed represents the 23rd Congressional District, stretching from western New York, into the Finger Lakes.

Rep. Chris Collins, R-Clarence, was named to the transition team earlier this month.
