The department encourages residents to hire contractors for clearing roofs if residents are worried about their roofs. The roads are open, so roofing companies can get onto streets to help with these concerns.

They also encourage elderly residents to hire contractors to remove snow from their driveways.

The driving ban in Cheektowaga has been lifted effective 10:00 am Friday. Traffic may be rerouted in certain areas in the town where the highway department will be removing snow from neighborhoods.

Assistant Chief Jim Speyer also recommends checking on your neighbors.
