U.S. Border Patrol agents have arrested at least nine illegal immigrants on Grand Island.

At least one suspect was taken into custody at a Rite Aid on Grand Island Boulevard.

The illegal immigrants were discovered during a routine patrol and are being fingerprinted to determine their identities.

"Something out the window caught his attention...he ran into the bathroom," said Lisa Renee Guagliano, an eyewitness to the arrest inside Rite Aid. "The next think I know five Border Patrol come in and get him out of the bathroom and escorted him out of the store in handcuffs."

According to agents, one of the men arrested had been deported in 2008 after being convicted of second-degree exploitation of a child in North Carolina. He is a sex offender and re-entered the country illegally sometime after the deportation.

Wednesday's arrests were the result of a tip that was called in yesterday.

The Grand Island arrests follow the arrests of 23 undocumented workers Monday night at a 7-Eleven in Hamburg.
