USA tops Germany 5-2 in pre-tournament tune-up

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — With the 2019 IIHF Men’s World Championships beginning on Friday, Team USA topped Germany in a pre-tournament tune-up 5-2.

Buffalo Sabres captain Jack Eichel centered the top-line alongside South Buffalo native Patrick Kane [Blackhawks] and Clayton Keller [Coyotes]. Eichel picked up an assist, sliding a perfect pass to Keller for the Americans second goal of the game.

Noah Hanifin [Flames], Alex DeBrincat [Blackhawks], James van Riemsdyk [Flyers] and Johnny Gaudreau [Flames] also scored for Team USA.

The USA plays Slovakia in their first tournament game on Friday. You can watch the game at 2:15 p.m. [Eastern] on NHL Network. Eichel will go up against Sabres teammates Sam Reinhart and Brandon Montour on Tuesday, May 21 when the U.S. faces Canada.
