Jack Eichel fed Nick Baptiste to open the scoring less than a minute in to the game, and the Sabres never looked back cruising to a 6-2 win over New Jersey Saturday night at First Niagara Center.

"A good starting point. There's improvement to be made, but happy with the result," Coach Randy Cunneyworth said after the win.

Eichel had just one assist in the game, but had several scoring chances stopped by the Devils netminders.

Baptiste finished with two goals.

Buffalo native Justin Bailey got in on the scoring action near the end of the opening period, firing one top shelf after a turnover to give the Sabres a 3-0 lead.

After New Jersey pulled within 5-1, the Sabres 2nd overall pick in 2014, Sam Reinhart found the back of the net to make it 6-1.

The Sabres return to the ice on Monday to face the Boston Bruins in the Prospects Challenge finale at First Niagara Center.
