Police: Maple Leafs scout steals, then crashes golf cart while drunk at Darien Lake

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - According to the Genesee County Sheriff's Office, Lindsay Hofford, the Director of Eastern Area scouting for the Toronto Maple Leafs, was arrested at Darien Lake on Saturday.

Hofford, 53, was charged with driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident, refusal to take a breath test, unsafely changing lanes and unauthorized use of a vehicle without owner consent. 

Police say that Hofford took a golf cart while without the owners permission before he allegedly crashed the cart into another vehicle, eventually leaving the scene. The police report also states that Hofford was intoixcated during the incident.

Following his arrest, Hofford was arraigned in Darien Town Court and spent the night in jail. He is due back in court on September 21 at 1:00 p.m. 

The police report does not specify where the incident took place but rock band Green Day was performing Saturday evening. 

Hofford joined the Leafs in 2015. According to his Twitter account he is also the CEO and Founder of Pro Hockey Development, Hockey Director Hill Academy.
