Western New York native and New England Patriots superstar Rob Gronkowski is one of the best tight ends in NFL history. But is he any good at field hockey?

While in town during the offseason, Gronkowski was working out at the same time and place as fellow Williamsville native Shannon Quinlan. After he was finished running routes, Gronkowski and a few friends joined Quinlan and gave field hockey a try.

"He was like, well I've never tried field hockey before, can I pick up a stick?" Quinlan said. "So I gave him a few pointers and we went ahead and shot some balls on my sister and we did some 3 vs. 1s with a couple of his friends from high school."

Quinlan plays field hockey at Assumption College in Worcester, MA and most of her teammates and friends at school are huge Patriots fans.

"All my friends were just like no way, only you, this could only happen to you, I'm so jealous," Quinlan said with a smirk. "They went crazy and my coach [did] too. She told me that this was probably the coolest thing that would ever happen in my whole life."

Despite their recent encounters, Quinlan doesn't plan to cheer on the Patriots anytime soon.

"I told him that I had a Gronk shirt that just says Gronk on the back, nothing on the front because I don't want to cheer for the Pats.  He said "Why won't you root for the Pats?" and I said I'm from Buffalo, I'm going to cheer for the Bills but I'll still cheer for you."
