Section VI Division I Finals:

On Monday night, Niagara Wheatfield beat defending champions Williamsville North 2-0 in the Section VI Division I finals. The game was played at the Key Bank Center.

Chace Woods gave the Falcons the lead in the 1st period and that's all they'd need. He wound up scoring another on a penalty shot to secure the win.

The Falcons will play in the Regional round this Saturday at the HarborCenter. The game is set for 7:30pm.

Section VI Division II Finals:

In the Section VI small school game, West Seneca West beat Sweet Home 2-1.

The Indians struck first midway through the first after Ethan Parsons scored to put them up by one after the 1st period. They added an insurance goal in the 2nd after Chad Chodkowski shot one in on a breakaway. Sweet Home cut into the deficit just seconds later after Tyler Edholm scored the Panthers first goal, but it wasn't enough as the Indians held on.

Both teams will advance to the Regional round with the Indians earning a bye. Sweet Home gets an at-large bid and will play their first round game at the HarborCenter later this week.

Monsignor Martin Niagara Cup Final:

In the Monsignor Martin Niagara Cup Final St. Mary's beat St. Joe's 3-2, an incredible run for a team who didn't even have a hockey team two years ago.

The Lancers got on the board first after Lucas Prince connected just six minutes in for a 1-0 lead. The Mauraders tied it up later in the period with a goal from Spencer Frome. David Matthew gave the Mauraders a 2-1 lead with a power play goal in the 2nd period.

The 3rd period was one to remember for the Lancers. Brendan Krawczyk tied things up and then with less than two minutes to go, Joe Henry tipped in a shot for the eventual game-winner.
