BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The UB Men's Basketball team took home the top individual honors from the Mi-American Conference.

The MAC announced Wednesday senior CJ Massinburg was named the Player of the Year and Nate Oats earned his second straight Coach of the Year honor.

Massinburg led the Bulls in scoring this season with 18.5 points and was second in rebounding. He becomes the fifth different Buffalo player in school history named the MAC Player of the Year.

For the sixth time dating back to 1970, a MAC coach has won the Coach of the Year award in back-to-back years. Oats led Buffalo to its best season in school history and is set to begin MAC tournament play Thursday. He has already been named a semifinalist for the Naismith National Coach of the Year award.

The Bulls won four of the five highest individual awards. Earlier this week, the league named Nick Perkins the Sixth Man of the Year and Dontay Caruthers was named Defensive Player of the Year.

The Bulls open Mid-American Conference Tournament action Thursday at noon when they tip-off against Akron at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.
