Niagara basketball teams eliminated in MAAC first round games

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The season is over for the Niagara men and women basketball teams as they both fell in their first round games of the MAAC Tournament on Thursday. The games were played in Albany, N.Y.

The women, the 8th seed in the tournament, fell to 9th seed Fairfield 74-69. Jai Moore led the Purple Eagles with 25 points while Adila Gathers added 12. The Purple Eagles finish with a 12-19 record.

The men, the 11th seed in the tournament, put up a fight but wound up falling to 6th seed Monmouth 76-72. Raheem Soloman led all teammates with 24 points and five rebounds. The Purple Eagles finish with a 13-19 record.
