For the first time in more than a decade, the Niagara University baseball team will be playing in the postseason.

On Saturday afternoon the Purple Eagles beat Manhattan 3-1 in their regular season finale and earned the final spot in the MAAC Tournament. It'll be the Purple Eagles first trip to the Conference Tournament since 2006.

"We talk all the time about just being in the moment and staying present and trusting the process and trusting each other and it was just the same thing everyday," head coach Rob McCoy said after the win. "I think if anything it was the consistent message of that- doing the same things we know we needed to do to get here."

The Purple Eagles are the 6th and final seed in the MAAC Tournament and will take on 3rd seed Canisius in their first game set for Wednesday at 12 p.m. The Purple Eagles beat the Golden Griffins twice this season and lost once.

The MAAC Tournament is a double elimination format and will take place in Staten Island, N.Y. The overall winner earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Division-I Tournament.
