MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL, MN (WKBW) — The WNBA's Minnesota Lynx announced former University at Buffalo guard Cierra Dillard has been waived by the team.

In April, Dillard became the first player in UB history to be selected in the WNBA draft since it began back in 1997 when she was selected by the Lynx as the 20th pick in the second round.

Dillard started all 34 games during her senior season at UB averaging 25.2 points, 5.7. assists and 2.9 steals. She earned First Team All-MAC honors and earned the 2019 MAC Tournament MVP title.

She reacted to the move on Twitter Saturday morning, thanking the team for the opportunity and wishing them well this season.

Dillard still has options as she can now go to another WNBA team or head overseas to continue her career.
