On Friday evening, top seed Rider was ousted from the MAAC Tournament by 9th seed Saint Peter's. Canisius fans everywhere got a little excited as the road to the NCAA DI Tournament got a little easier for the 2nd seed Golden Griffs.

Quinnipiac had other plans.

The 7th seed Bobcats pulled off a huge upset, beating the Golden Griffs 72-69 in the 2nd MAAC quarterfinal of the day. The loss eliminated Canisius from the Tournament and dashed their hopes of representing the Conference in the NCAA DI Tournament.

The Golden Griffs jumped out to an early lead. They led the Bobcats 36-30 at the half and led by as many as ten in the 2nd half of play. But the Bobcats clawed their way back, forcing a back and forth affair down the stretch.

The Bobcats led 66-60 with two and a half minutes left in regulation but the Golden Griffs made it a 1-point game with less than 45 seconds to go. The Bobcats made their free throws and Canisius failed to convert on two three-point attempts as Quinnipiac wound up securing the win.
