Making his first career start in the NFL, Tyrod Taylor dazzled and the Bills defense kept Andrew Luck at bay in a 27-14 season opening win over the Colts on Sunday.

Taylor, who's last start was against Luck and Stanford in the 2011 Orange Bowl, completed 14-of-19 passes for 195 yards and a touchdown. He also ran nine times for 41 yards.

"It was everything that I kind of envisioned it to be," Taylor said. "The fans were super loud and they created a great atmosphere for us to go out there and play our style of ball."

"We know who Tyrod Taylor is, and we've got faith in him. This guy's got some magic to him," Head Coach Rex Ryan said after the game.

Scoreless nearing the end of the first quarter and with the Colts driving, it was Ronald Darby putting an end to drive, intercepting Luck. TY Hilton looked to have the rookie beat, but Darby closed in for the INT.

"We performed well because we do have a good time we are loose we are prepared. We're ready to go," Kyle Williams said. "We also know offensively if we give the ball back to them, too, they're pretty explosive on that side of the ball and if we can get a lead we will be tough to beat if we can play the lead."

On the ensuing drive, with the Bills facing 2nd and 12 at the 49, Taylor stood in the pocket and fired a pass down the sideline to Percy Harvin, who laid out for the 51-yard TD grab.

Luck, who was the highest rated QB against the blitz in 2014 according to Pro Football Focus, was under duress for the majority of the game, finishing with just 243 passing yards, 2 TDs and 2 interceptions. He was sacked twice.

One of the worst rushing teams in the NFL a season ago, the offensive line struggles continue for Buffalo on Sunday.

The prized offseason acquisition in the back field, LeSean McCoy, was relatively quiet in the run game with 17 attempts for 41 yards. Five of his carries went for negative yards, including a six yard loss on the first snap of the game.

He did have three receptions for 46 yards.

Karlos Williams ran for 55 yards including a 26-yard TD run at the end of the first half to give the Bills a 17-0 lead.

Fellow running back Anthony Dixon gave the Bills a 24-0 with a touchdown in the third quarter.

Sammy Watkins was only targeted twice in the game and did not record a catch.
