After only getting one full season under his belt with the Buffalo Bills, Bryce Brown's tenure has come to an end with the franchise. The Bills announced Tuesday afternoon that they have released Brown from the active roster.

Brown, 24, was acquired by the Bills during the 2014 NFL Draft for a future fourth-round draft pick, in the hopes that he could have some potential down the line. In his first season, he was buried on the depth chart and didn't see the light of day until the Bills suffered injuries to both C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson.

He showed his most promise in a regular season game against Kansas City, but he had a fumble on the goal line that shifted the game, allowing the Chiefs to come away victorious.

In 2015, the fumbling problem didn't go away. Both Anthony Dixon and Fred Jackson suffered an injury in training camp, which gave Brown and rookie Karlos Williams a chance to shine for the number two job behind LeSean McCoy. On consecutive days, Brown fumbled a ball and lost it to the defense, earning him a one-way ticket to head coach Rex Ryan's dog house.

The Bills elected to keep Brown on the active roster after final cuts, amid a report that the Bills were trying to trade the running back. Brown was inactive against the Indianapolis Colts, and subsequently released ahead of the first day of practice in Week Two.

In seven games with the Bills, Brown gained 126 yards on 36 rushes, averaging 3.5 yards per carry. He did not score a touchdown in any of his appearances.

With his release and the impending return of the suspended Marcell Dareus, the Bills are now down to the 53 player requirement for their active roster.
