A Mississippi Christian non-profit organization is making Buffalo its second home.

8 Days of Hope has a new location on Kensington Avenue on Buffalo’s Eastside.

The volunteer organization goes to areas hit by natural disasters to help people rebuild. Steve Tybor III and his dad started 8 Days of Hope during Hurricane Katrina in 2005. At the time the Buffalo native was living and working in Mississippi.

Since then the Mississippi based organization grew to 5,000 volunteers, rebuilt and remodel 2,760 homes across the country.

Tybor said the Buffalo location will allow the group to quickly respond to natural disasters in the northeast, including snowstorms and floods.

8 Days of Hope is also opening up the 100,000 square feet facilities to other Western New York Ministries.

“If you’re a ministry in Buffalo and you’re just launching come see us. We got 20 offices. We love to talk to you about using one of these offices or some of the space,” Tybor said.

There will be a launch meeting at 9am on Saturday, August 18th inside of First Baptist Shiloh Church in Buffalo. Then opening house for the new 8 Days of Hope building is from 11am until 1pm on Saturday, August 18th, as well.
