It's been nearly one year since Jamie Billquist lost his wife. Rosemary Billquist was walking her dogs when a hunter, Thomas Jadlowski, mistook her for a deer. He shot her after dusk.

With Saturday day being the regular opener for Deer season, Billquist is asking hunters to be safe.

“Be safe and just follow the rules. I have nothing against hunting,” said Billquist.

Billquist hopes the memory of his wife will remind people to take extreme caution while hunting.

“Be careful and make sure before you pull the trigger you know what's on the other end of that gun,” added Billquist.

Billquist is waiting for Jadlowski's sentencing sometime in January. His one-time-neighbor pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide. He faces up to 15 years in prison.
