Paying to park within an area designated for metered parking means you shouldn't get a ticket right? That wasn't the case in for Barry Rebholz, who parked in front of New Era's headquarters Friday before a meeting.

When he put his payment receipt on his dash, Rebholz says he was 'harassed' by New Era security and what he believes to be several New Era employees. He says they threatened that his car would be booted and towed if he didn't move it because he wasn't allowed to park there... Rebholz left his car where it was to make a statement.

“As small of a thing it is, I thought someone has to make a stand, if it’s two or three cars everyday, every few hours getting ticketed, getting bullied by New Era and their goons is a worthy cause," Rebholz said. "It’s a cash cow that everyday they’re able to write 10 $60 dollar tickets.”

Rebholz said a New Era security guard told him that it was a "New Era rule," indicating that it wasn't a law from the City of Buffalo.

7 Eyewitness News reached out to New Era, and received this statement Friday night: "Earlier today, staff and security personnel communicated with a motorist regarding parking stipulations in front of the building.  This dialogue occurred to inform the motorist of a potential ticket and was communicated appropriately.  New Era does not own and is not responsibility for the parking regulations on Delaware Avenue.”

The Buffalo Police Department says it is working with both Rebholz and New Era to find a solution.
