West Seneca has suspended its senior code enforcement officer amid "disciplinary charges."

A statement from the town board, issued through a public relations firm, indicates John Gullo was suspended without pay on May 4. The board cited a section of the state civil service law in the statement, but declined to offer any more details as to the nature of the charges, or what led to them being levied.

"The Town Board will continue to consider all of its legal options and obligations related to the disciplinary charges against Mr. Gullo," the statement read in part. “As this is a personnel and pending legal matter, the Town Board will have no further comment at this time."

The board did indicate it is appointing an independent hearing officer to conduct a disciplinary hearing examining the charges against Gullo.

“Following the appointment," the statement read, "a hearing date will be scheduled. Upon conclusion of the hearing, [the officer] will issue a report and recommendation for the Town Board’s consideration."
