The Erie County Sheriff's Office announced they have made an arrest in connection with a burglary that took place on March 11 at an Elma Salon and Spa.

Officials say deputies viewed security camera footage from a Seneca Street business and observed a male using a hammer to smash a door and gain entry. Once inside, the subject took a small safe, cash register drawer and a money bag and exited.

On April 11, detectives from a local police department were interviewing Michael Meier, 46, of West Seneca, at the Erie County Holding Center regarding other burglaries in the area.

During the interview Meier admitted to the Seneca Street burglary, the detectives then informed the Sheriff's Office of his admission.

On April 16 Meier was charged with felony counts of criminal mischief and burglary, along with misdemeanor counts of possession of burglar tools and petit larceny.

Meier remains at the holding center and is facing multiple charges from Buffalo and Cheektowaga Police, in addition to the Sheriff's charges.
