Some local veterans are not happy after they were denied tax breaks by the Lake Shore Central School District.

The school board says it can't afford the reduction in school taxes for anyone, veterans or not.

But some local veterans are encouraging people to come to the next board meeting on December 15, to urge board members to change their minds.

"We're the only school district who hasn't passed it, I mean we just can't believe that Lake Shore can't find the money to give us this exemption," said Anthony LaRusso, a Vietnam Veteran.

A number of other WNY districts have approved the veteran school tax exemption law, which was signed by Governor Andrew Cuomo two years ago.
