"I need that place, and I'm going to miss it."

Ronald Kraft served in both the Korean War and Desert Storm. He has over 20 years of military experience. Now, instead of fighting for his country, this Buffalo man hopes his country will fight for him.

The services he receives from the VA are being discontinued. The Adult Day Health Care center in Amherst is being shutdown because the property was sold.

Kraft has diabetes, memory loss, and has difficulty walking. He relies on the services of the VA. It offers health services and a social environment for veterans. Kraft says its incredibly important to him. At one point, it even saved his life.

"I would have been dead."

It was the nurses there that told him he needed to go to the ER for his triple bypass heart surgery. Three days later he had his surgery.

"I just don't think it's right that they are shutting it down," Kraft said.

Other facilities were suggested, but some of them were in Albany and New York City.

7 Eyewitness News reached out to the VA, but it has not responded yet.
