Two schools, two families, but one blood drive... The Parents of Nolan Burch and Paul Englert Junior had a dual blood drive on Saturday in the Town of Tonawanda. Both families held the event in honor of their sons who died at a young age.

“It’s a tragedy we both experiencing, but we are trying to do something good for our community out of it,” Paul Englert Senior said.

Nolan passed away during his freshman year at West Virginia University. His death has been linked to a possible hazing incident. Paul Jr. died suddenly in 2013 from a blood clot.

To entice people to come to the friendly drive, the families used the two rival high schools their sons attended. One donor at the event said it was his first time giving blood in the 50 years he has been living.

“It’s for a great cause, two great young men glade to be out here,” Alex said.

Both families are planning to continue this blood drive as a tradition. They said it's all about saving lives. However, you can always give blood to Unyts. To find the closest location log on to www.unyts.org
