Dirt is being leveled for landscaping and a memorial wall is in place.
The Tribute Garden for all those affected by domestic violence will soon be complete.
"As a victim and survivor, I am now an advocate for domestic violence," said Faye Martinear, who has been involved in the planning of this garden since it began three years ago.
For Martinear, this project is personal. She endured 25 years of financial and emotional abuse in her marriage before breaking free.
This scenic spot along the bike path in Tonawanda's Isle View Park is where she reflects about her life and the sacrifices she made.
"For anyone who is experiencing domestic violence, this shows the community cares," said Sawrie Becker, the Erie County Commissioner of Public Advocacy.
It's at the Tribute Garden where victims, survivors and their families can find peace and messages of hope and love forever etched in stone.
Money will be raised to maintain the park at the 6th annual Break-the-Cycle Bike-a-thon and Walk on Saturday, September 26 at Isle View Park in Tonawanda.
