Hard to find a parking spot at University at Buffalo? There is an app for that.

UB Alumni Andrew Mingola has come up with an app called Spot Swapper. It pairs students who are looking for parking with students who are getting ready to leave spots at both the north and south campuses.

The app tells you the make and model of car to look for in the parking lot and you earn points based on the review of the person you swap spots with.

Students have been complaining for years about the lack of parking at UB. The University has nearly 30,000 students, many who are commuters. Mingola was a computer science major at the university. He said the frustrations of parking on campus led him to designing this Spot Swapper with two classmates.

“If it takes traction to students and they like it, then it’s a lot to be excited about,” Mingola said.

Students are already downloading the app. It’s set to officially launch on Monday, April 16th.

The app is available on the Apple Store and Google Play. Mingola is hoping the app gains traction just like Uber did and will eventually be used at college across the state and country.
