Finding activities to keep your kids active during school break can be tough, especially given research that says keeping their brains stimulated is key when it comes to their social and mental development.
Over February break, the Buffalo Museum of Science is offering a series of activities and mini-camps, also known as Discovery Camps, to keep kids engaged and learning, while having fun - outside the classroom walls.
The museum's Science Communicator, Sarajane Gomlack-Green, said it's all about making science fun and reminding kids and families that stimulating environments channel kids' innate sense of creativity and cursorily.
"I think every kids is born wanting to ask questions, we kind of use these opportunities, like Discovery Camp, to help foster that, help keep that going," Gomlack-Green expressed.
February week break camps include: Digital Explorers and Middle School Robotics. There's also a unique opportunity to enjoy the winter weather at Tifft Nature Preserve.
Then, of course, there's National Engineers Week. A week 6th grade Mumtahina Rahman said, she can't wait for.
"You never know if it's something really cool if you don't give it a chance. Engineers week, it gives kids a chance to explore," Rahman said.
Either way, whether your kids are headed to the Museum of Science or staying home during break, the goal is to keep them activated so when they head back into the classroom, they're ready to go!
