Police cruisers surround Sweet Home High School

Sweet Home High School went into lockdown on Monday afternoon, as police investigated a reported emergency at the school.

Amherst Police got the call from a courtesy phone at 2:30pm, indicating the emergency.  No one was allowed in or out of the school while police conducted their search.  According to police, school safety protocols were activated in coordination with the Sweet Home Central School District.

The lockdown was lifted around 3:30p,. In a statement, Sweet Home Central School District says the threat was unfounded.

"Sweet Home Central School District is very appreciative of the efforts of the Town of Amherst Police Department and all district administrators involved with today's incident," the statement said.
