Deadly crashes involving drivers under the influence of marijuana have doubled in Washington after the state legalized the drug. This is according to the latest research by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety.

Research found deadly crashes linked to marijuana went from eight to 17 percent between 2013 and 2014.

The foundation said it also discovered one in six drivers involved in deadly crashes in 2014 had recently used marijuana.

Washington was one of the first states to legalize the recreational use of marijuana.

There are currently two bills to legalize and tax marijuana in the New York State legislature.
