'Students for Action' will host a town hall-style "gun forum" to hear different opinions on gun violence and its possible solutions.

Multiple lawmakers were invited to the forum; Congressman Brian Higgins will attend, but Congressman Chris Collins declined. Collins called the meeting a "partisan trap," while his campaign called it a "political and manipulated".

Student leaders who organized the forum want to create a platform for discourse, rather than make the issue a left-versus-right debate.

"We want different perspectives on it," said Andy Kowalczyk, a senior at Clarence High School. "Open up a line of dialogue. It's time to start talking with people. We understand you have to work with people and collaborate in order to solve something, or at least begin to solve something."

The forum will be held at St. Paul's Cathedral in downtown Buffalo at 1:30 on Saturday, April 7. Students with note cards will present topics for two hours for lawmakers to discuss.
