A student at Iroquois High School has been charged with hacking into his school's computer system, a crime that police say gave him free rein of the school.

The student's name is not being released, but Iroquois School Superintendent Doug Scofield said he is 18-years-old and has been charged with felony counts of computer trespass and computer tampering.

The student was initially questioned by the school and the Erie County Sheriff's Office on January 22nd. He was charged in early February.

By hacking into the computer system, police say the student was able to access answers to tests. He was also able to access the school's key lock box, allowing him to enter the school at any time. The student even made duplicates of school keys, according to investigators.

Scofield says the district has since taken measures to make sure something like this never happens again.

The student is due in Elma Town Court later this month.
