The suspension against a St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute football player will stand, after the Monsignor Martin High School Athletic Association Board of Principals denied the school's appeal.

The suspension is part of a penalty handed to SJCI's football team following an on-field brawl during a game against Bishop Timon-St. Jude on October 8th.  The Monsignor Martin High School Athletic Association ruled both teams were forced to forfeit, resulting in a one-game loss, and several players were penalized.

Last week, SJCI appealed the suspension.

Following the denial of the appeal, St. Joe's officials said in a statement, "We are grateful the Board of Principals agreed to hear the appeal, and we accept the decision as a member of the Msgr. Martin High School Athletic Association.  The entire St. Joe’s community will continue to place our energy and focus on the mission of educating our students to become gentlemen of integrity. In that same spirit, we will also continue to work to ensure our students’ safety is always protected."
