The Buffalo Riverfront is now a huge summer spot for many, which makes it quite attractive for entrepreneurial Western New Yorkers looking to cash in on its popularity.

Buffalo Tiki Tours is riding the wave of popularity, giving everyone a chance to float down the Buffalo River on a tiki bar.

This is the first full summer of operation for the Buffalo Tiki Tours, yet another business that has popped up thanks to Buffalo's revitalized waterfront.

The two owners thought the boats would be a perfect fit for Buffalo and they say the boats stay busy all summer long.

“I think we all agree that Buffalo has some of the best water activities going,” said Craig Schultz owner of Buffalo Tiki Tours. “We thought adding a slice of the islands to the waterfront would be a good idea.”

A good idea that has turned out to be profitable and while drifting by sites of Buffalo's yesteryears, it's easy to remember why the Buffalo River wasn't always used for recreation.

“The waterfront was abused by industry,” Schultz said. “And finally the politicians and everybody stepped up and said you know what we have a beautiful waterfront here, let's make it better, and they've done a wonderful job”

Making it better, made a business like this possible, and the owners of the Buffalo Tiki Tour believe it's only the beginning for new businesses along the water.
