Attention Spectrum cable customers: your monthly bill is about to go up.

Starting November 1st, the following increases will go into effect:

  • Broadcast TV surcharge will increase from $8.85 to $9.95/month
  • Spectrum receivers will increase from $6.99 to $7.50
  • Spectrum internet for current customers who subscribe to Spectrum TV will rise from $54.99 to $59.99/month
  • Spectrum internet for current customers who do not subscribe to Spectrum TV will increase from $64.99 to $65.99/month

The increases are happening in all markets served by Spectrum and come at a time when the cable provider is fighting to stay in New York state.

In July, the New York Public Service Commission decided to revoke its franchise and kick Charter Communications - the parent company of Spectrum - out of the state, claiming it was not moving fast enough in efforts to expand internet service.

Last week, the commission agreed to give the company another 45 days to negotiate its future in New York.

Charter has accused the commission of being politically motivated.

"Spectrum has extended the reach of our advanced broadband network to more than 86,000 New York homes and businesses since our merger agreement with the PSC," said spokesman Andrew Russell. "Our 11,000 diverse and locally based workers, who serve millions of customers in the state every day, remain focused on delivering faster and better broadband to more New Yorkers, as we promised."

Spectrum is the largest cable provider in New York, providing service to more than two million subscribers in 1,150 communities statewide.
