Days after the Niagara County SPCA raided a farm and charged the owner with animal cruelty, the agency says it is overwhelmed by the support the community has offered.

The SPCA serving Niagara County posted to its Facebook page saying "Many local farmers have stepped forward with donations of hay and feed and many others have offered a home if the animals are signed over to the shelter.

Earlier this week, The SPCA raided a farm on Drum road in Middleport. Dozens of animals including pics and cows were found living in filthy conditions, and starving.

The SPCA says because of hay donations, one of the pigs has been able to lay down for the first time in a long time.

"With the good comes the bad and the sad," said the SPCA in the Facebook post. The agency says one of the cattle went down and could not get back up. A veterinarian came out to examine the cattle and was surprised she able to sustain life for as long as she did in her condition. The cattle had to be euthanized due to its condition.
