Fred Daniel opened Freddy J's three years ago and his special way of serving up delicious soul food has been a hit with his customers. "If I can open that door, and the lights are on and Julio Iglesias music playing, it's a good day."
Fred says he cooks better with the music playing and it's not unusual to see him singing and dancing along while he simultaneously prepares his signature dishes including Red Velvet waffles and fried chicken, collard greens, grits and barbecue.
Before opening his restaurant, he worked a number of places including a stint with another big Buffalo personality Charlie the Butcher; "He was the best boss I ever had." says Fred.
Hours are: Monday-Saturday 10am - 4pm and Sunday 10 - 3pm. Freddy J's is located at 195 Grant Street in Buffalo. You can reach the restaurant at 716-983-8647.
