A Buffalo man is sentenced to ten years in prison for his involvement in five burglaries.

According to the District Attorney's Office, Brian Benjamin, 53, began his burglary spree in 2010 after he robbed a house on Kay Street in Buffalo. When he broke into the house, Benjamin speared blood on the lower window trying to get inside, and again on the upper window as he jumped out after discovering the residents were home.

The DA's Office says the crime lab was able to match Benjamin to three other unsolved burglaries from 2014 where DNA was also left at the scene. Two occurred on Carmel Street in Buffalo where blood was smeared on the wall and one was on Englewood Avenue in Tonawanda where the suspect left clothing behind.

Benjamin was also caught on video trying to disable a surveillance camera set in the living room of a Cheektowaga home, according to the DA's Office. Cheektowaga Police posted a picture of Benjamin on their Facebook page, resulting in several anonymous tips identifying Benjamin as the burglar.
