"There is a lot of families struggling, everybody has their story," Cadet Soliangely "Soli" Hernandez said.

She's currently a junior at WNY Maritime Charter School in Buffalo.  Her story with The Food Bank of WNY started three years ago when a fellow cadet pushed her to join her school's foo pantry after hearing her story.

"Every weekend we have people coming in and out of the house. Friday we normally have 13-15 people in our house...We didn't have so much things in our refrigerator and now that we open it, it's like wow we have food."

Every Thursday Soli and up to 49 other student-families can come to WNYMCS's Mess Hall to get everything they need for the week from the food pantry.

"We're thankful that we're receiving this help so we can have something day and night," she added.  Maritime is one of five WNY schools that house a food pantry for students.  The goal is to help families where teens act as the primary caregivers at home.
