Buffalo Sabres center Ryan O'Reilly has been named one of the three finalists for the 2017-18 Lady Byng Memorial Trophy.

The trophy, which was first awarded in 1925, is awarded “to the player adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability.”

While the Sabres finished last in the league, O'Reilly enjoyed his second-best offensive season, featuring historic numbers in the face-off circle.

His 1,274 face-off wins were the most by any player since the NHL officially began tracking the statistic in 1997.

The winner of the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy will be announced Wednesday, June 20, during the 2018 NHL Awards in Las Vegas.
