Report cites troubles for Tesla in Buffalo

Delayed production at Tesla's SolarCity plant in Buffalo has caused its partner, Panasonic, to look for other buyers for solar components.  That's according to a new report by Reuters, which came out Wednesday.

Reuters cites assembly-line problems for leading to the delay, and says the SolarCity business has been shrinking since Tesla acquired it in 2016.  Panasonic said in a statement that it has been selling some of the solar panels it produces in Buffalo under its own brand instead of selling them to Tesla.  The company declined to comment to Reuters on shipping components to other customers.

Assemblyman Ray Walters was quoted in the article saying that it concerned him that only part of the plant "appeared functional" when he toured it in March.  Tesla, meantime, told Reuters it is on-track to meet all its commitments, and now employs about 600 people.  You can read the full report here.
