By all accounts Margaret McCormick was a remarkable mother. Her daughter Peg Siegle of Collins remembers that her mom "sewed, she knit, she crocheted, she baked, you name it."

When Peg and her sister Barb get together to reminisce, you never know what will be revealed. "Mother fell out the back door and never knew that she was pregnant with twins," according to Peg.

Margaret or "Marge" as she was known, passed away in 1995. The accomplishment she may be most remembered for is that she gave birth to 18 children, 11 boys and seven girls.

Peg is the oldest daughter. Her mom wrote a book called "Cheaper by the Half Dozen" and was featured on 7 Eyewitness News in the 1980s. If Marge was still alive today she could boast 72 grandchildren, 140 great-grandchildren and 40 great, great grandchildren.

Peg says the most important thing she learned from her mom: "She always said, 'If you're going to do a job, do it well or don't do it at all.'"

With a family that size and still growing, Margaret McCormick has left a long lasting legacy.
