Two high-profile and well known Democratic political operatives now admit they broke the law.

On Tuesday, 47-year-old Kristy Mazurek and 59-year-old David Pfaff pleaded guilty to misdemeanor Election Law Crimes.

According to the State Attorney General's Office, both Mazurek and Pfaff admit that between August 2013 and September 2013 they, "knowingly and willfully attempted to engage in illegal campaign coordination while acting on behalf of the Western New York Progressive caucus.

Both Mazurek and Pfaff were sentenced to one-year conditional discharges.

The Western New York Progressive Caucus was created by Steve Pigeon and Kristy Mazurek in 2013.  The committee's aim was to support Democratic candidates in the 2013 primary.
