A Florida mother charged with murdering her 11-year-old daughter told West Virginia State Police she was headed to Buffalo.

West Virginia State Police confirmed the deceased child's father lives in Buffalo and Erica Newsome of Jacksonville, Florida, was on her way there.

On August 6th, West Virigina Police responded to a vehicle accident near the Virginia/West Virginia state line. The driver, Erica Newsome, had lost control and crashed. Troopers found Newsome and her daughter's body 150 yards away from the roadway.

Witnesses to the crash stated the suspect had removed the victim from the vehicle and drug her over the embankment to the place she was found by police.

Since the car accident, West Virginia investigators were able to confirm the 11-year-old girl was killed in Jacksonville and loaded into the car.

The West Virginia State Police, Jacksonville Sheriff's Department, and Buffalo Police will work together to investigate the case.
