Police: fentanyl dealers arrested after overdose spike

A recent slew of opioid-related overdoses in Orleans County has led to the arrest of several suspected fentanyl dealers.

The members of the Orleans County Major Felony Task Force say t hey were able to identify four people who they believe were selling and distributing quantities of fentanyl also known as "The Gray Death"  in the City of Rochester.

Police executed search warrants at three different residences on Conkey Avenue, 79 Avenue and Radio Street where they seized 33 grams of fentanyl, six grams of heroin, marijuana, more than $7,000 in cash, scales, packaging and other drug paraphernalia.

Police arrested four suspects, including 19-year-old Giovanni Serrano, 21-year-old Carlos Serrano, 18-year-old Nelvin Raul Martinez and a 15-year-old juvenile.

Giovanni Serrano is charged with 13 counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree. He is also currently on probation for a violent felony regarding a weapons charge in Monroe County.

Carlos Serrano is charged with three counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree.

Martinez is also charged with three counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree.

The 15-year-old juvenile is charged with one count of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree.

The three adults were arraigned in the Town of Gaines Justice Court and were remanded to the Orleans County Jail.
