Town officials on Grand Island are asking their employees to be on the lookout after a pair of home invasion robberies.

In both cases, the suspect posed as town employees.

Deputy Supervisor Gary Roesch says the Erie County Sheriff’s Office alerted him that two days ago, a man posed as a Code Enforcement employee to gain access to a home. Once inside, the man assaulted and robbed the resident.

On Wednesday, the suspect dressed in a HAZ-MAT suit and claimed to be a Water Department employee to gain access to a home on West River Road. Once inside, the man assaulted and robbed the resident.

Deputies say they have several good leads in the investigation and having been working through the weekend to identify the suspect. They now believe more than one person is involved, but no one is in custody yet.

The suspect is said to be using a white box van. If you have any information, call the Erie County Sheriff’s Office at 716-858-2903.
